Chanel Valentine’s Day Collection
I think I’ve fallen in love. Chanel honours the most romantic day of the calendar, Valentine’s Day, with the softest, most feminine of colours: powdery, blush pink. With bags, pearls, iPod cases and much more for you to feast your eyes on, I know it may be an overly commercial day, but there’s no denying that there is no harm spreading a little love. And what better way, than a little Chanel.

Carmen Dell’Orefice: The World’s Oldest Model
In an age obsessed with youth and beauty, Carmen Dell’Orefice is a welcome reminder that the two are not inextricably linked. The veteran model this weekend celebrated her 80th birthday as she continues to be a hit on the catwalk. The style icon and birthday girl has been modelling ever since she got on the cover of Vogue in 1946 at 15 years old.

In her 66 year career, Ms Dell’Orefice has graced the cover of Vogue six times and been the face of 14 cosmetic campaigns, including the following one for Chanel No.5.
At 80, she’s still walking the runways. Most recently, she’s walked for John Galliano, Hermes and Alberta Ferretti!
A true inspiration to growing old gracefully and with a tonne of class – a role model to admire.
Arm Candy: Chanel ‘Boy’ Bag
They call it the “Boy” bag, but don’t let its masculine name put you off. If ever there was a time that was right for the launch of a women’s bag with a masculine attitude, Chanel did well to pick this one. The catwalk is a sea of masculine undertones; undertones that we only expect to strengthen as 2012 approaches, bringing with it an expected 1930s revival. Think 2012 takes on Broadwalk Empire. And few fashion houses do heritage as well as Chanel.

Chanel Cruise Collection
The Hotel du Cap in the Antibes, France was Karl Lagerfeld’s choice for launching this year’s Chanel Cruise 2012 collection. Lying on the French Riviera and with views from the hotel of breeze-blown palm trees and bobbing yachts, Karl didn’t have to travel far to find a place where Chanel’s glamour and luxury feels at home. Viewers lounged on stripped wooden furniture as they took in the latest offering from the label.
First came Abbey Lee Kershaw in a canary yellow business-like suit complete with knee-length skirt and button-up jacket. Strict, body-hugging tailoring followed, gradually moving on to preppy shorts and sweater combos and then a barrage of monochrome, first with swimsuits which were teamed with classic Chanel style trophy jackets and then came the top hats which added a touch of quirk.
The tailoring gradually relaxed to include slouchy trousers, billowing shirts and flowing dresses. Kristen McMenamy later lead what appeared to be a makeshift wedding complete with groom in tow, while many celestial white gowns and dresses backed up the angelic bridal theme that rounded off the show.
With over 70 different looks, I’ve chosen my top five picks, but you can view the entire collection on the Candy & Couture Facebook Page.
