It's the celebrity relationship that has perhaps hit the headlines more than any other over the past few years. And now Rihanna's brother Rorrey Fenty has come forward to talk about his sister's romance with Chris Brown, admitting the pair 'were like soul mates'.
He said: 'Rihanna and Chris were great together, they were like soul mates, but it’s a very sensitive subject – I just blank it out and I think she blanks it out, too.
'When she looks unhappy, it’s not because of her missing Chris, it’s because of how hectic her lifestyle is – she sometimes does 13-hour days.'
Rorrey added to heat magazine that while he's not sure what the future holds for Rihanna and Chris, she has spoken to him about her plans to settle down and have a family.
He said: 'I’m really proud of her. I just want her to be happy. She has talked to me about getting married and having children. She plans on settling down, but she wants to focus on her career.
'She needs a man who likes to do the stuff she likes doing, someone laidback and fun-loving.
'There are a million guys across the world waiting to take her out, but she says they are more intimidated by her than anything else.'
Brown was charged with assault after his 2009 altercation with Rihanna.
He was initially bound by a restraining order that required him to stay 50 yards away from his former girlfriend, 10 yards at events.
It was reduced to a level one status last year, meaning the pair could appear together at awards ceremonies.
Brown was charged with two felonies after the incident, which left Rihanna in need of hospitalisation.
And now the pair are working together again, with Rihanna explaining her decision to put the past behind her as a professional one.
She said recently: 'I reached out to him about doing Birthday Cake because that’s the only person that really... it made sense to do the record.
'Just as a musician - despite everything else - that was going to be the person.'
Rorrey also confirmed that Rihanna did have a relationship with rapper Drake, with whom she collaborates on his single Take Care.
He said: 'Rihanna doesn’t have a boyfriend right now. Drake and Rihanna used to be together – and he’s a pretty cool dude.
'I was in a club in LA, and he saw me and came over. I was nearly his brother-in-law, but I didn’t know him so well, so I was touched by that.'
Rorrey added: 'I’ve always been protective of her. Certain guys will be looking at her or coming on to her, and I tell them to move away and be careful not to bother her.
'We don’t have a drinking age in Barbados, so we started partying at 14 years old.'
The full interview with Rorrey appears in this week's heat magazine, out now.
