And now Adele has now been nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize for her record breaking alum 21.
The 23-year-old singer, who missed out on the award in 2008 for her debut album 19, will battle it out with two previous recipients of the prestigious music prize PJ Harvey and the band she lost out to three years ago, Elbow.

But the singer who set a new record for an unbroken 11-week stint at the top of the charts with her follow up album, has never been in higher demand.
Earlier this month it was reported that Adele is set to join the judging panel of BBC1 talent show The Voice joining a panel which is tipped to include Cheryl Cole and Cee Lo Green.
Award winners: Elbow, who beat Adele to the gong in 2008, have also been nominated for the award this year
The nominations for the Mercury prize were announced by Lauren Laverne at The Hospital Club earlier today.
Adele is among a shortlist of 12 acts - which also includes double Brit winner Tinie Tempah competing for the esteemed award.
Half the nominees are nominated for debut releases and the list features four female singer-songwriters.
PJ Harvey was previously awarded the prize in 2001 for Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea on the night of 9/11.

The Mercury Prize, won last year by The XX, is held in high esteem within the industry, but more importantly it frequently helps to boost sales of nominees and winners, not that Adele needs any help in that department.
It revitalised the career of Elbow, this year nominated for Build A Rocket Boys!, when they won three years ago.
Tinie Tempah's inclusion, for Disco-Overy, follows his best British breakthrough and best single win at the Brit Awards in February.
The 2011 winner will be unveiled at a ceremony in London on September 6.
