Hangover 2

A new trailer for the sequel to comedy smash The Hangover shows the second instalment is full of even more hi-jinks and hilarious incidents than the first.

This time taking place in Thailand as opposed to Las Vegas the films reunites cast members Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Ken Jeong.

In The Hangover Part II the lead stars once again wake up having no recollection of the night before but find themselves with several tell-tale signs that their evening was not the sensible get together they'd hoped for.

Poor Alan (Zach Galifianakis), who ended up with a baby in the first movie, wakes up with his long mane of hair completely shaved off.

He provides much of the comedy in the film with his wacky sense of humour.

While, in a clear nod to the first film's guest star Mike Tyson, newlywed Stu (Ed Helms) wakes up with a tribal tattoo on his face which he quickly realises is real.

Phil (Bradley Cooper) seems to have come off a lot better than everyone else, but realises they've lost Stu's wife's younger brother.

Their adventure begins when they have to search high and low for him, while retracing their steps and piecing together the previous night.

But the stars will be overshadowed by a new addition to the cast, a little monkey who's in the room with them when they awake from their epic night.

Director Todd Phillips, who recently made headlines when he joked that the monkey had become addicted to cigarettes because of its role in the film, acknowledged that the monkey was a born star.

He said: 'There's a monkey in the film that I think is going to book a lot of parts after this film.'

In one scene close to the end of the trailer the monkey, under Galifianakis' perverse guidance, simulates oral sex on a Buddhist monk.

Phillips also told MTV that his comedy sequel was inspired by The Godfather.

He revealed: 'I think there are very few sequels that have been made that live up to or exceed their first film. The Godfather is the first one.

'We had always planned on calling it The Hangover 2, and when we finished the script, I changed the cover page and wrote The Hangover Part II, because I think the film lives up to or exceeds the first one. It was very much a nod to The Godfather.'

If Robert De Niro portrayed the breakout character in Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece of a sequel, Phillips agreed that the monkey will be the one everyone will be talking about when the movie.

The 40-year-old also admitted he'd love to make a third Hangover movie because he got on with the cast member so well.

He admitted: 'I could [do a third]. And I'm only saying that because we love working together — me, Ed [Helms], Bradley, Zach, Justin [Bartha], Ken Jeong. We have such a good time on these movies.

'I know it sounds absurd, but I see other movies that have gone to three and you go, "I get why they do it." It's actually fun. We just spend the whole day laughing and trying to make a movie.'
