Last month she revealed her healthy bikini body as she soaked up the sun in Miami. But today Nicole Richie opted to cover up as she hit the beach in Malibu for a family day out.
The 30-year-old looked every inch the Seventies bohemian beauty as she slipped into an orange pantsuit, whilst she and husband Joel Madden played with their two children, daughter Harlow, four, and son Sparrow, two.
Nicole looked to be having a good time as she tossed a ball around with her kids before taking them down by the water to play.
The Fashion Star mentor wore her hair up in plaits and slipped on a pair of her obligatory oversized sunglasses.
Madden also went low-key for the outing in a pair of cut-off denim shorts, a blue T-shirt and a patterned shirt.
He enjoyed soaking up the sun rays whilst Nicole made sure to keep her tots refreshed with what appeared to be some juice.
The former reality star later got a little bit chilly and wrapped herself up in a rug.
Making their way back to the car Madden cradled his son in his arms, whilst Nicole walked hand-in-hand with her mini-me daughter.
Late last month Nicole showed off her curves and healthy bikini shape as she enjoyed a break in Miami with Madden.
She looked stunning in a plain burgundy two-piece as she strolled around the pool.
Her incredible shape now is dramatically different to her appearance in 2006 - when a photo of her running down the beach showed her looking emaciated and ill.
At the time Lionel Richie's adopted daughter acknowledged she was too thin and opened up to Vanity Fair magazine about the issue.
She said: 'I know I'm too thin right now, so I wouldn't want any young girl looking at me and saying, 'That's what I want to look like.
'I do know that they will, which is another reason I really do need to do something about it. I'm not happy with the way I look right now.'
Nicole put her weight loss down to a break-up from former fiance Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM.
She said: 'I had a bad breakup, and it eats me up inside when I'm upset about something.'
'I get really stressed out, and I do lose my appetite, but I do force myself to eat.
'I tried to put the weight on my way, eating burritos, but that wasn't working, so I started seeing a nutritionist and a doctor.'
Yesterday Nicole celebrated Easter by introducing her daughter to spring time in an adventure playground that looked like the backdrop to a Tim Burton film.
The two girls were seen enjoying the sunshine as Harlow played by a giant polka dot tulip.
As her eldest child frolicked in the colourful play area, with decor including oversized toadstools and flowers, Nicole paraded her enviable sunkissed pins in denim shorts, with no need to rely on heels.
The mother-of-two showed off her boho style with a loose-fitting striped top and her hair tied up.
Little Harlow looked cute as a button with her hair in two pigtail braids and a summery pink dress.
Let's hope the four-year-old has learned to laugh at mummy's jokes, as Nicole sampled a quip on Twitter, saying: 'What do bunnies do to stay healthy? EGGXERSIZE!'
The former socialite, who has abandoned the club circuit in favour of motherhood, is also about to embark on the fashion industry after launching her jewellery and clothes collection.
She revealed: 'It's amazing there are so many female designers at the top of the industry right now.'
Speaking to InStyle UK, Nicole added: 'I am all about female empowerment and I just love that women are in a place now where we're working, creating and doing everything we love.'
