It's sure to cause some concern and dismay among his huge fan base as to why Zac Efron was sporting an injured hand tonight. But if the young actor is to be believed, it was because one of his female admirers got a little too close for comfort.
He arrived at the European premiere of his new film The Lucky One at the Bluebird in Chelsea tonight sporting a flesh-coloured bandage on his left hand.
And when asked by waiting reporters what he had done to cause the injury, he smiled and said: 'A fan bit me'.
He was only joking, but considering the over-excited frenzy his fans can get into when he's in their vicinity, it wouldn't be surprising.
Some reports said he cut his hand in a 'fruit related accident' but it was still unclear how.
But he didn't let his little injury stop revelling in the glory of the flashbulbs as he and co-star Taylor Schilling posed for pictures on the red carpet.
And the pair looked very cosy together as they got close and held hands as they made their way inside the venue, stopping to chat to fans and report which stars Zac, 24, as US Marine Logan Thibault who returns home from a tour of duty on a mission to find a woman in a photograph that has been his lucky charm during the war.
The woman is Beth, played by Schilling, who he finds in a small town in Colorado and ends up working for her family's kennel business and romance soon develops between them.
Schilling, 27, is a relatively unknown actress and this film, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, is her big break.
She looked very pretty in an unusual multi-coloured crocheted dress and towering black heels.
The pair were joined at the premiere by socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, who also went for the crocheted look and arrived in a pretty grey dress which she showed off as she gave a twirl on the red carpet.
