There's only one fruit you'd associate with New York, where Leighton Meester is busy filming Gossip Girl, and that's the apple.
It's been a nickname for the city since it was first coined by a racing columnist in the 1920s, but Meester, 25 , made the Upper East Side altogether more fruity today.
She donned an outfit on the set of the hit CW show that was a veritable cacophony of oranges and lemons.

The fruits were printed on her skirt; and her blouse, towering pumps, bag and jewellery were all tied into the colour scheme.
Texan beauty Meester was filming scenes for the new series, and it's the first glimpse of her character's new wardrobe.
But she had to break with the beautifully coordinated look of her protagonist Blair Waldorf, to allow a spot of respite from her shoes.
The brunette was eager to ditch her high heels to enjoy the comfort of flip-flops while the cameras weren't on her.
It just goes to show what a professional the break-out star of the hit series is, and she certainly seems poised for great things.

Leighton recently chatted to MTV News about her latest film, Monte Carlo.
She told them that the movie 'is about three young women from Texas who go to Paris together on a trip.
'There's a big case of mistaken identity in a really nice hotel.'
'It was fun both on and off [screen],' the Fort Worth native continued.
'A lot of what was happening on screen was just an extension of the fun we were having outside.'
'We got up in the Eiffel Tower but it wasn’t just go up for a trip, we got there all alone and was just us at 5 am when the sun was just rising.

'It was really beautiful,' she enthused.

Yet the down-to-earth Southern belle, who plays the scheming heiress with aplomb, admits she isn't interested by labels, despite her role having heightened her awareness of fashion.
She said: 'Gossip Girl has absolutely changed my style. And living in New York I've become more brave and aware of fashion.
'I completely close my eyes to it when people call me a fashion icon because it's an opinion from people that I don't know. I wear what I like.'
