Watching a parent face a health crisis is hard no matter who you are.
When you’re 23 and you’re doing it under the glare of the media spotlight it has the potential to be a particularly tough experience.
And Demi Moore’s oldest daughter Rumer Willis appears to be coping with her mother’s latest health scare by sending a tough message to the public, or perhaps to her estranged stepfather Ashton Kutcher.

The aspiring actress was spotted shopping in Los Angeles yesterday, sporting an interesting black bag with a gun design on it.
Hopefully she didn't intend on travelling with the bizarre handbag - a Florida teen was last month detained at a Virginia airport when officials took exception to the gun design on her clutch.

She held her head high and matched her bag with tough attire, including a military-style jacket, a printed T-shirt, black skinny jeans and black boots.
It’s been a week since Indecent Proposal star Demi was rushed to hospital after collapsing at home after supposedly having a seizure.
Yet – while Hollywood swirls with rumours about the 49-year-old's illness – Willis has been the public face of the showbiz family.
She was even spotted dining with Glenn Close and her family on Saturday night and socialising with them after the SAG Awards on Sunday.
According to EOnline.com Willis was seen having dinner with the Albert Nobbs actress in West Hollywood
The red-head is friends with Close’s daughter Annie Starke.
The two got to know each other last year when they appeared in the off-Broadway hit, Love, Loss and What I Wore. According to People the two young ladies had dinner with Close and her husband David Shaw at Comme Ça, a French restaurant in West Hollywood.

A source told the US magazine that Willis seemed ‘fine.’
The witness also said that the oldest child of Moore and actor Bruce Willis was ‘sweet’ and that the party were ‘all very gracious the whole time.’
Last week – just hours after her mother had been admitted to Sherman Oaks Hospital – her daughter was seen chain-smoking outside, with her mobile phone pinned to her ear and looking stressed.
But on Sunday she seemed to be a bit more relaxed.
While her mother kept a low-profile, presumably resting at home, Willis ducked into the Chateau Marmont hotel off Sunset Boulevard to attend a SAG Awards after-party with the Close family.
Another eye witness told People that Moore’s daughter enjoyed the evening, socialising with her friend Starke and sipping champagne.
In the meantime there are reports that her mother is getting better.
Last week a tape recording of the call Moore’s friends made to 911 was aired publicly.
A concerned woman could be heard telling the operator that the Ghost actress was ‘shaking, convulsing, burning up.’
But director Patty Jenkins said on Saturday that the actress is ‘doing great.’
Speaking at the Directors Guild Awards in Hollywood, Jenkins said: ‘I just saw her and she's doing great. I think she's doing much better than it's made out to be.
‘Demi is awesome and so strong.
‘I also hate when people make it a bigger drama than what is going on. She's great.’
However, there are other reports that the actress was ‘devastated’ that she had to pull out of Lovelace, a biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace.
Moore – who was supposed to play feminist Gloria Steinem – has been replaced by Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker who will now appear opposite Amanda Seyfried and James Franco.
Meanwhile her estranged husband Ashton Kutcher has taken to his Facebook page to offer insightful words to his followers.
Kutcher, 33, posted a picture of a passage from an unnamed book.
He wrote on his Facebook wall: ‘Friend sent me this today thought it was valuable to share.’
Listed are four points and the first one says: ‘Be impeccable with your word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean.’
The Two and a Half Men actor’s six-year marriage to Moore was rumoured to have crumbled after he was allegedly unfaithful.
