Upsetting defeat: Jeremy Clarkson loses Top Gear challenge when remote controlled tank hits water main

Jeremy Clarkson clearly wasn't having a good day. The Top Gear presenter looked defeated during the latest filming of Top Gear.

The controversial presenter looked as though he lost a competition against other presenters James May, 48, and Richard Hammond, 41.

The trio had to use remote controlled tanks to demolish houses in Gravesend, Kent, on Friday but Clarkson appeared to get nowhere when he accidentally hit a water main.

Clarkson looked frustrated and upset as he appeared to lose the challenge.

He was seen burying his head in his hands when gallons of water started pumping up into the air.

In tomorrow night's show on BBC 2 the star will be taking Formula One boss Bernie Eccleston for a ride.

Bizzarely the 80-year-old wore his seatbelt under his arm while they did two laps of Monaco's circuit in a Citroen DS3 Racing.

Their exploits include trying to find the world's top hatchback and can be seen on Sunday night.

Lately the TV star has also been having a bit of a rough time as rumours circulate about his personal life.

It had been reported he and wife Frances were split following reports of infidelity but they couldn't have looked happier as they chatted and had lunch together in London earlier this week.

They then kissed before heading home together.

In April Clarkson, 51, was accused of cheating on his with with Top Gear colleague, Phillipa Sage, during the show's world tour.

But he denied the reports and has insisted that his marriage is not over despite reports that he has been living separately from his 49-year-old wife.

Friends insist this is normal practice as he stays in London during the week for work purposes and heads to the family home on the Isle of Man at the weekends.
