Inside Tommy Hilfiger's $50million home, luxury Manhattan apartment

When Tommy and Dee Hilfiger invite you to have a look around their home, you don't hesitate to step across the threshold.
The power couple have lived in their two floor condo in the highest floors of the iconic New York Plaza hotel since they married in 2008.
As you'd expect from two successful fashion entrepreneurs - and one of America's power couples - it is pretty luxurious and a testament to contemporary American style.

Portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor by Andy Warhol hang on the walls, which according to Gawker was worth $50million when they bought it and has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
The couple also have art works by Keith Haring, Richard Prince and graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

A blue neon sign by British artist Tracey Emin, which spells out 'And I said I love you', leaves no doubt about the artistic sensibilities of the household.
But amongst the luxury and high style, there are sweet domestic touches too.
Designer power couple: Mrs Hilfiger is a designer in her own right and has just created a collection of handbags for HSN. Here the pair sit beneath a neon sign by Tracy Emin, which says, 'And I said I love you'

The Eloise room is set in a magical turret making an excellent play space for their three-year-old son Sebastian.
Of course, the room isn't any old kid's den (there's no Ikea furniture in sight). Instead the bedroom has been hand-painted by the illustrator of the fictional character Eloise, Mr Hilary Knight, himself.
Mrs Hilfiger invited The Coverteur into the home to preview her handbag line, DEESIGNS for HSN, and told them about the children's illustrator's work for the couple.
'Hilary Knight was a class act - so talented! He painstakingly labored over every detail. We love Eloise, we love Hilary and we really love how the room turned out.'
Fashion meets art: Mrs Hilfiger decorated the rooms with framed memories from the Plaza's heyday, including the Rat Pack, Fred Astair and Ray Charles. She also loves shoes - these are Miu Miu and Louboutin (middle)

There are also framed family portraits – shot by Annie Leibovitz no less.
And as you'd expect, the attention to fashion detail is impeccable.
Mr Hilfiger's perfectly organised wardrobe is immaculate.
'I like walking into my own private boutique. The colour coordination makes it easier to select. Although, it's easier when my shirts are either white and blue or blue or white!' said the designer.
Domestic touches: Mr Hilfiger's impressive footwear collection may look like a upscale shoe shop but the illustrations by Hilary Knight, creator of the Eloise series, turn an entertainment space into a family home

And his wife's shoe collection is equally impressive.
'I love shoes... what girl doesn't?' says Mrs Hilfiger. 'I keep my evening shoes on the higher shelves because they're much prettier to look at. The everyday shoes are on the bottom. My favourite shoes are Prada and Miu Miu and, of course, Louboutin.'
