54th Grammy Awards 2012: Live coverage
And look, it's Mr Ryan Seacrest! It's been at least 12 hours since he last hosted anything. There's a saying about his finger, many pies, ugh, can't think. Does this thing serve coffee? Large cappuccino - stat.
Back to the Beach Boys - the real ones have joined us on stage, bless their plastic hips. Good Vibrations.
Or an ad for The Good Guys, we can't tell.
1.13pm Mary J Blige tweets from the Grammys:
12.57pm Rihanna is finding love in a hopeless place... There's a whole lot of foot stamping going on. Can she show up Chris Brown's performance? It's looking likely.
12.47pm Jack Black, dressed like a cowboy, introduced the Foo Fighters for their live performance. Or at least we think he was introducing them. There was a lot of shouting.
He's standing outside the Staples Centre looking like the groupie that didn't get an invite.
12.41pm Here's six-time Grammy nominee, Bruno Mars opening his performance with: "Get off your rich asses and let's have some fun."
12.40pm Here's Alicia Keys Bonnie Rait singing Sunday Kind of Love in a tribute to Etta James, who also died this year.
Man up and turn up Kanye! With seven noms, that could be a whole lot of "he couldn't be here tonight" speeches.
12.35pm Nicky Minaj Tweets:
12.32pm CB gets some love from Paris:
On a side note, this is a momentous evening for Brown. It's the first time he and ex-girlfriend Rihanna have walked the same red carpet since the infamous Grammy's three years ago, in which stars were forced to pull out after he assaulted her in the back of a car on the eve of the 2009 awards show.
12.25pm Adele wins a big, big Grammy - taking out Best Pop Solo performance for Someone Like You. No surprise there.
12.08pm Mark Anthony tries to be all clever and stuff telling the audience it's "very very cool" to see LL Cool hosting. Good one, MA.
12.03pm ATTENTION: Calling all Monsters, your leader is here! No sign of Lady Gaga on the red carpet, but we spied her underneath a black veil in the crowd.
12.02pm Your host for the Grammys (besides us) is LL Cool J. The man described Whitney Houston's shock passing as "a death in our family" - kicking off proceedings with a prayer.
Because that makes perfect sense.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift won for best fake name. Just kidding, T-Swizzle, you rocked the best country solo performance for Mean. Now I feel a little mean.
11.57pm Snooki hits a bum note
11.54pm Jessie J is recieving a whole lot of kudos for her dress. However, Guiliana Rancic gives her props for a different reason.
11.52am Uh-oh. Fashion foul?
11.41am A blue rinse Katy Perry is searching for the positive:
11.27am Looking too cool for school, multi-award nominated singer, Bruno Mars.
11.23am: Tony Bennett on his first time hearing Whitney Houston:
11.20am Just when you thought you'd seen it all, Nicky Minaj arrives with her own bishop, looking like Little Red Riding Hood. "She's this year's Lady Gaga" said Kelly Osbourne.
11.18am Marc Anthony thinks he's sexy and he wants you to know it:
11.15am Don't know who they are. Don't care. But for those who do, it's La Vida Boheme from Venezuela.
11.14am President of the Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, says of today's ceremony:
11.01am Grammy host LL Cool J on finding the best way to pay tribute to Whitney Houston during the awards:
10.51am Fergie described as "shockingly beautiful by E! red carpet host Guiliana Rancic. The Black Eyed Peas star said she had two choices and went with the "safe option". If neon orange was the safe option, we'd love to see what was the "unsafe" option!
10.43am Foster The People are pumping up their kicks with Paul McCartney.
10.39am Billy Ray Cyrus appears solemn on the red carpet, sporting sunglasses. He almost appears to break down as he speaks of Houston. It's certainly all anyone is talking about at the moment.
10.35am There's a mouse in the house.
10.31am Lo and behold, it's a slimmed down Snooki:
10.27am Amy Winehouse's dad, Mitch, on Houston's passing:
10.20am It's not Friday, but Rebecca Black has still got her party shoes on.
10.19am Kelly Rowland says Houston embraced and encouraged young female performers.
10.17am David Guetta and his wife Cathy, Guetta is due to perform on stage with Deadmau5, for a genre-busting performance that will highlight dance/electronica music. This marks the first Grammy performance to shed light on the increasingly popular genre, which has recently seeped into every form of music.
10.12am There's certainly an overwhelming amount of black on the red carpet, one can't help but wonder if a few celebrities had a wardrobe change of heart in the past 24 hours. I'd say there were some fairly stressed stylists out there this morning! In the meantime, Paris Hilton's in white.
10.09am Kelly Osbourne among the first to tweet, here she is with Ellen's favourite girls, YouTube sensations Sophia-Grace Brownlee and her cousin Rosie. If you haven't seen the clip of the girls rapping to Nicki Minaj,
10.07am The red carpet is officially underway! Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Hudson among those to expected to impress.

JUST 24 hours ago, the superstars of the music world were gearing up to celebrate the industry's biggest night, with Adele set to be crowned the Grammy's Queen with the usual glitz and glamour.
Then came the news that would change everything.
This year will be Whitney Houston's night as the recording industry mourns and remembers her iconic contribution to the world.
Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson, who won an Oscar for her role in movie musical Dreamgirls, will perform a medley of songs in tribute to Houston, arguably the most successful female singer the world has ever seen.
Adele, whose smash hit album 21 with chart-topping songs like Rolling in the Deep, is nominated for six Grammys, including album of the year and record of the year.
She will return to the stage for the first time in nearly five months after having vocal cord surgery. Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and a reunited Beach Boys will also perform.
Although Kanye West leads all nominees with seven and Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters tied Adele with six, the soul singer is favored to sweep all of her categories.
Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Taylor Swift are among the big name stars and presenters who will also be in attendance.
Snooki hits a bum note.
