Whitney Houston’s daughter allegedly got into a shouting match with police at the hotel where her mother died when they refused to let her into her mother’s suite.
Bobbi Kristina Houston reportedly turned up to the 4th floor of the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles several hours after her mother passed away.
But when officers turned her away she ‘screamed and cursed’ and demanded to see the body - before storming off.
The unfortunate episode provided a glimpse into the private grief and turmoil of Miss Houston’s only child.
Bobbi Kristina, 18, has already been dubbed the ‘true victim’ of the tragedy as her mother has died so prematurely.
TMZ reported that, in a fit of grief, she went to the Beverly Hilton but police told her nobody could see Miss Houston’s body.
There was a blanket ban on any family members going in, and even Miss Houston’s aunt Dionne Warwick was refused entry.
Other family members and friends who were already in the hotel room by the time the authorities arrived were the ones to identify the body.
The distress would have made an unbearable situation worse for Bobbi Kristina, who was born in 1993 to her mother during her stormy marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
Commentators have said that Miss Houston went out of her way to replicate with her own daughter the strong bond she had with her own mother Cissy.
When she and Mr Brown divorced in 2007, one of the reasons they kept relations civil was out of respect for Bobbi.
But despite her best efforts, her daughter has been engulfed in scandal too.
Last year she was forced to deny she has taken cocaine after pictures emerged of her apparently snorting a white substance.
A former boyfriend also claimed that she was ‘addicted to cocaine. I’ve tried to stop her, but all she said was, ‘I’m just like my mother!’’
On her Twitter page Bobbi Kristina wrote that ‘it’s really not what it looks like’ and that God would ‘smite’ those who set her up.
Speaking of her mother, she added: ‘I love my family so much. My mom just comforted me to the max, and I'm so thankful for her.
‘Thank you so much lord for blessing me with an Phenomenal family and incredibly phenomenal mother.’
Miss Houston was said to have been so horrified by the episode she cancelled her daughter’s 18th birthday party at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas and ordered her to go into rehab.
But just 24 hours later she reportedly pulled her out and turned to Miss Warwick to give her daughter guidance instead.
Bobbi Kristina was first introduced to the public in the 2000s reality show ‘Being Bobby Brown’ which showed her struggling to cope with her parents’ marriage breaking down in front of her.
In recent years, she has taken to social media to show that she has inherited her parents’ talent for singing.
A video she posted on YouTube last September showed her singing Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ has been viewed more than 100,000 times.
On her Twitter page, one of the last posts was a touching picture of her in a car with her mother and a friend.
Now, facing the rest of her life without her mother, Bobbi Kristina will have to turn to friends and Miss Warwick to get her through what will doubtless be one of her greatest challenges yet.
Psychotherapist Dr Jenn Berman, who has not treated Houston, told FoxNews.com: ‘Whitney had a very public struggle with drug addiction, and a drug addiction not only affects your family relationships - it affects everything.
‘Now, it’s especially important for Bobbi Kristina to surround herself with people who love her, support her and who she trusts. And it’s especially important at a time like this not to turn to drugs or alcohol
