Red, Bride and Blue: How the Kate effect brought a British touch to fashion's biggest night

Fashion's equivalent of the Oscars — the annual ball held in aid of the Costume Institute at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (and the reason fashion folk get out of bed every morning) — paid tribute this week to the work of the late British designer Alexander McQueen.

It also launched an exhibition of his key pieces. Bathed in the glow of that Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Royal Wedding dress, the night was a spectacular tribute to British fashion.
