The trio made their way through the city to Central Park, where they enjoyed a leisurely stroll before heading back to their apartment.
Douglas tried to remain incognito in a baseball cap and sunglasses as he carried the bags for the family day out, while Carys and Dylan ran on ahead.

One person absent from the day out was Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was photographed enjoying the live music on offer at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival over the weekend.
It's been a difficult few months for the family, as Zeta-Jones revealed in April that she had sought treatment for bipolar II disorder, spending five days at a mental health facility in Connecticut.
The actress sought help after struggling to cope with the trauma of Douglas’s battle with throat cancer - he was given the all clear in January.

'This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them,' she said in a statement to People magazine.
'If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it.'
However, after her treatment, Zeta-Jones appears to be back on track, judging by pictures of the 41-year-old actress at the festival looking happy and relaxed while spending time with her mother Pat.
Zeta-Jones has been in Louisiana to film her new comedy movie Playing the Field alongside Uma Thurman and Dennis Quaid.

Meanwhile, Douglas, 66, spoke recently about his pride after Zeta-Jones revealed she was suffering from bipolar disorder.
He told Oprah Winfrey on her U.S. chat show: 'I said, 'I've got my oldest son in federal prison. My ex-wife is suing me, and I've got cancer'.
'It's kind of hard for the wife to say, "I'm depressed". I think that probably played a big part of it. She's got to be stoic and deal with all the stuff that I'm going through.
'I think she's relieved that she has a better understanding [of the disorder]. I'm so proud of her for kind of analysing, taking care of it and getting some help.'
