Margherita Missoni takes centre stage in first images of family firm's line for Target

It is set to be Target's biggest designer collaboration to date - and certainly one of its most highly-anticipated. Now first images of Missoni's line for the retail giant have finally surfaced. The first ad for the budget range sees Margherita Missoni take centre stage in a Sixties-inspired dress, scarves tights and shoes - all covered in the label's signaure zig-zag stripes.
The 28-year-old, who is the eldest granddaghter of the label's founders, poses alongside a male model, dressed in knitwear from the menswear offering, and both pull colourful luggage, which also forms part of the range.

Completing the retro Italian feel of the image is another Missoni for Target-clad couple, posing in an old blue Fiat Cinquecento.

The collaboration, which was first announced in May, will comprise a staggering 400 pieces - Target's largest to date.

In addition to womenswear, it will include clothing for men, children and babies, as well as an extensive homewares line that will span from bed linen to tableware.
It is set to launch ofn September 13 and prices will range from $2.99 to $599.99, though most items will retail for less than $40.
Margherita's mother, Angela Missoni, who is the creative force behind the family brand, said in a statement: 'Our collection for Target embodies Missoni's values of family, color and quality.
'It has been a fantastic experience translating our aesthetic into an affordable line, one we are eager to share with families across the United States.'
Kathee Tesija, Target's executive vice president of merchandising, was equally enthusiastic.
She said: 'The Missoni family has established one of the world's most creative brands, and together we've created a collection that will have guests lining up outside their local Target in anticipation.
'Our collection with Missoni offers more than 400 compelling products for every aspect of guests' busy lives, all at incredible prices, and provides Target with a unique point of differentiation for the fall season.'
Missoni, which was founded in 1953 by Angela's parents Ottavio (Tai) and Rosita Missoni, is famous for its unique knitwear and abstract florals, in a kaleidoscope palette.
It boasts a host of stars in its current advertising campaign, including Leighton Meester, Jasmine Guinness and model Jade Parfitt.
The partnership with Target is not the first Missoni collaboration to be announced recently. The label has also put its stamp on a line of Havaianas flip-flops and espadrilles, and even a Bugaboo stroller, which has earned the seal of approval of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe.
Missoni for Target will be available from September 13 until October 22 at all Target stores and Target.com.
