They are usually seen on TV wearing an assortment of casual, teenage-suitable clothes. But the cast of Glee have upped the glamour stakes with a sophisticated new photograph in the prestigious September issue of Vogue magazine.
The co-stars, including Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer, dressed in a menagerie of fashionable looking outfits with a coordinating theme of red white and black.
Lea Michele looked particularly stunning in a short snakeskin style long sleeved dress with grey heels, while her co-star Dianna Agron sported a futuristic-looking black skirt and glittery black top.
Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel, got in on the act with a red hat, black shirt, white tie and white jacket, while Jenna Ushkovitz kept the red theme going with a knee-length dress and black jacket.
The shoot for the fashion bible was used to promote Fashion's Night Out, an evening of nation-wide retail events scheduled for September 8.
The cast, who are currently filming the third season of the show, also discuss their personal taste in fashion.
'When Glee started, I had no idea who Marc Jacobs was. In no way was I a fashion person,' says Chris. 'I did all my shopping at my small-town Target. Maybe if I dressed better I wouldn’t have had such a hard time in school.'
In fact, Chris's co-star Kevin McHale, who plays wheelchair bound Artie, is more of a fashionista.
'Whenever Kevin sees me in an outfit, he feels the fabric and looks at the label, then goes and buys it,' reveals Chris.
Meanwhile, Lea says her style is a far cry from her Glee alter ego Rachel Berry.
'I would never wear a sweater with an animal face,' she laughs, admitting she is a fan of designer-to-the stars Oscar de la Renta.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy admits the show's characters are all given an individual costume assessment.
'From the beginning, I asked the costume designer to give each of these kids an archetypal identity,' he explains 'We didn’t want them to look like generic mall kids. Now their looks are being copied.'
