Sarah Jessica Parker braces for Hurricane Irene at her New York apartment

Sarah Jessica Parker is among the New York residents preparing for Hurricane Irene.The 46-year-old mother-of-three said she is 'battening down the hatches' at her Manhattan apartment.
The storm is expected to hit the U.S. East Coast this weekend.

While promoting her new comedy, I Don't Know How She Does It, in New York yesterday, she said she's in full storm-preparedness mode.
The actress says she's removing anything that could fly through windows.
 
She's also making sure she and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick; their 2-year-old twins, Loretta and Tabitha; and 8-year-old son, James Wilkie, are stocked up on water, flashlights and batteries.
The actress, who was born in Ohio, has called New York City home for decades and it was of course, where she filmed the hit show, Sex And The City.

Meanwhile, other New York based celebrities were also preparing for the storm, with director Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw spotted earlier today leaving via helicopter.
Fashion designer Ralph Lauren also evacuated the city via helicopter, arriving with his son David and his fiancée Lauren Pierce Bush, granddaughter of former President George Bush.
Actor Alec Baldwin was also getting stocked up with supplies.
'I have water, batteries, a scrabble dictionary, peanut M&Ms, a copy of Decision Points and a Thigh Master,' he tweeted earlier, along with a slightly more panicky 'Is the storm coming here? IS THE STORM COMING HERE?!?! AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!'
Katie Couric was more focussed on possible power outtages,

She tweeted: 'Preparing for Irene! Went to drugstore at 7:30 and no flashlights! Arrrgh! Will try later.'
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper was equally concerned about food supplies.

'I went grocery shopping in NY for canned food in case Irene knocks power out,' he tweeted. 'The supermarket was empty of people and the shelves were packed.'

And while her sister Kim honeymoons in Italy with new husband Kris Humphries, Khloe Kardashian, 27, tweeted that she is 'preparing DASH NYC for the hurricane. So scary!'
