Vanessa Minnillo's mother has spoken out about not being invited to her daughter's wedding to Nick Lachey.Helen Bondoc is estranged from her daughter and has not seen her since she was a nine-year-old.
When contacted at her home in South Carolina, Bondoc did not even know that Minnillo, 30, was getting married.
Showed some photos of the wedding by America's Star magazine, she said: 'Oh my goodness, she's beautiful! 'She's changed so much, though I can still see that little scar on her forehead from where she picked at her chicken pox when she was a child.
'I didn't have a clue that Vanessa was getting married. We last spoke about 12 years ago, on the phone. I just wanted to talk to her and tell her everything straight about my life.
'But I still think about her all the time, and I still love her dearly.'
Minillo's father says Bondoc left her daughter and adopted son Vincent Jr in his care after their divorce and 'never came back'.
While Minnillo has said she felt 'sad, confused and emotional' about being abandoned by her mother, she has never publicly spoken in detail about their relationship.
Their private island ceremony was broadcast on TLC as Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding special over the weekend, and the newlyweds enjoyed having the chance to watch it all back for the first time.
'[We] opened a bottle of wine and plopped down on the couch and watched it Saturday night,' Nick told Access Hollywood this week.
'It was pretty cool. There were things I didn't even remember happening. It was kind of neat to sit down and kind of relive it.
'Obviously it's probably the best wedding video you could ever hope to have, something we can show the kids one day.'
Nick once was the star of reality show Newlyweds with ex-wife Jessica Simpson, and insisted that that is not a route that he and Vanessa plan to go down.
'We've already decided that one. The thing that was appealing about this particular special is there was a clear beginning and end to [it] and it's not going on, and so that's the reason we were able to kind of wrap our heads around it.'
The pair are now eager to start a family.
'Trust me, it would make me very happy,' Nick said. 'Family is very important. It's very important to us, and I'm sure that will be around the corner.'
